Abstract: In this discussion paper we propose a framework for embedding the scholarship of technology enhanced learning (SOTEL) within an educational design research (EDR) methodology. SOTEL updates Boyer’s scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL) model to incorporate a critical integration of learning technologies and teaching praxis, informed by new learning theories. The paper explores this framework redefining SOTL as an iterative four-stage process that embeds the use of social networks to enable collaboration and enhance the dissemination and sharing of technology enhanced research and practice.
