Abstract: We developed a VR system for the learning of knife-skills. The users can experience a virtual cutting using a pseudo knife. The pseudo knife, which is one of the input device of our system, consisted of knife grip only. However, it contains a pressure sensor to check whether the user grasps the knife grip strongly enough or not. The motion of the user’s hand is tracked by Leap Motion hand-tracking sensor and reflected immediately in the VR screen. The usability evaluation was conducted after the system development was completed. We found that although the points of “Response” and “Ease of Operation” are below the medium, “Readability”, “Favorability” and “Motivative” are superior.
