Abstract: Online instruction is mushrooming globally, especially in higher educational institutions. Without appropriate and effective support, the quality of online instruction will be uncertain; the moral of faculty will be low; and students might lose their interests and drop out from online courses. A content review research was conducted to examine effects of faculty support models for online instruction. Four faculty support models and four approaches were presented, discussed, reviewed, and compared. Issues, concerns, and challenges were examined and discussed. Then, the author proposed an effective faculty support model with a purpose to enhance the quality of online instruction.
