Abstract: This paper presents the findings of a study carried out as part of the EU Horizon 2020-funded project NEWTON in the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava with 48 undergraduate students. The purpose of the study is to learn how multimedia adaptation influences participants’ knowledge gain and learning satisfaction. Multimedia adaptation refers to altering some parameters of a multimedia stream such as resolution or bitrate in case of video during the streaming process. Diverse data was gathered from participants by means of questionnaires, including participant demographics, learning results and information about learning experience. Students’ data was analysed by considering diverse student subgroups based on their details including age, gender, network used and frequency of watching movies. A quantitative analysis was employed to examine the results of the study. The results show that apart from an important learning satisfaction increase there is also a knowledge gain improvement after using multimedia adaptation.
