Types of and Behavioral Patterns in Interpersonal Conflicts for Japanese University Students
Abstract: The purpose of this study was: 1) to identify situations in which Japanese university students experience interpersonal dilemmas to prepare situations for use as simulation materials, and 2) to clarify individual behavioral patterns in interpersonal dilemmas often experienced by university students. The results from Survey 1 indicated that situations in which Japanese university students tended to experience interpersonal dilemmas were extracurricular activities, part-time jobs, friends, classes, and family. The results from Survey 2 indicated participants had difficulties relating to situations in which the wishes of the other person were difficult to understand, or the dilemma between one person’s wish and the other person’s wish was hard to understand. The results from Survey 2 also indicated there are individual behavioral patterns in interpersonal dilemmas.
