Abstract: There has been an increase interest in using makerspaces in K-12 schools, and educators have discussed its potential to support teaching and learning. As makerspaces move into schools, there is a need for professional development to support K-12 teachers to effectively integrate making in their teaching. This paper provides an overview of a work-in-progress professional development project to K-12 teachers. The professional development focuses on pedagogies and integration of makerspace in teaching and learning while engaging teachers in hands-on practice with tools and materials in a makerspace. Findings of this project can potentially inform practice and help advance discussions on how to support teachers to integrate makerspaces in their classrooms and schools.
