Abstract: Bibliometric analysis (BA) has been widely used by many authors to determinate the state of art and facilitate the systematic review of scalable body of academic literature of a specific research area using quantitative and statistical indicators. This workshop introduces participants a bibliometric analysis methodology, including concepts, indicators, database, and free software tools. The workshop proceeds in three parts: 1. We’ll provide participants with the fundamental knowledge of BA, bibliometric indicators, and referential databases; 2. Participants will perform an advance search query in the referential database (i.e. web of science); and 3. We’ll explore software tools that can be used to analyze bibliographic information, such as Biblioshiny to describe impact indicators and Vosviewer for collaborative indicators. We’ll finalize by exploring a case study “The State of Research on online learning Conducted and Published During the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The case of study is presented as a brief review of the methodology and procedures in BA presented. Participants will have hands on experience with how bibliometric analysis could be used as a new methodology to evaluate the current state and trends in any field of study. Additionally, participants will be able to ask questions about the literature analysis process, discuss best practices in research development and receive an electronic brochure summarizing the topics covered in the workshop.
