Abstract: The online learning platform has seen exponential growth since the emergence of Covid-19 and the massive shift toward distance education. The prompt transition has left many instructors struggling to identify effective strategies for teaching in this new setting. Online instruction poses particular challenges that require intentionality in assessment, course design, and curriculum. This paper utilizes research and the authors’ experiences to identify strategies that promote engagement in the online classroom. The Community of Inquiry framework, designed to provide a framework for effective online courses, is used as the foundation for these video strategies. Additionally, reflections of the lessons learned through years of implementation are discussed.
