Abstract: This case study examined whether Japanese young learners of English could learn phonics through technology integrated instruction instead of in-person instruction. The technology integrated instruction of teaching phonics was originally developed to solve two problems: the financial limitation and the mask regulation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The students in a small town in Japan learned phonics to some extent with the technology integrated instruction. This instruction turned out to be helpful for Japanese teachers of English, most of who were not familiar with phonics, to teach phonics.
