Abstract: Technological challenges in education have generated discussions about the role of computers in transforming the teaching and learning process. According to Ross, “How you use technology is more important than if you use technology.” Combining multimedia technologies with the Web has created new possibilities for the development of instructional materials. However, this use of technology continues to represent traditional conceptions regarding the use of computers. One of the problems is that these uses tend to be disconnected from the curriculum rather than being integrated into the existing one. Using computers to teach about the computer itself and not as vehicles for higher-order thinking is a waste of school time (Tucker).Students do not learn from computers, but rather benefit from them as learning partners. This presentation is to describe constructivist uses of technology and to present a curriculum unit for a Measurement and Evaluation class in Health and Physical Education.
