Learning Management Deployment and Integration: Policy, Requirements, and Technical Solutions
Abstract: Purdue University is in the process of implementing a purchased Learning Management System (LMS). As a part of this deployment, the LMS must be integrated with a variety of related systems in a manner that satisfies both end users and policy makers. This paper is a case study documenting how the Teaching and Learning Technologies department integrated multiple systems and built an external interface to deliver the course creation and registration functionality, demonstrating how it is possible to address university policy, federal guidelines, end user requirements, and technical potential within a single solution.
