Abstract: In university education there are two groups involved, students and scientific staff. Interaction takes place mainly within the specific groups. Scientific staff works together to prepare and give lectures and to organize tutoring offers for students. Students collaborate to gather and explore learning material and to explain each other the subjects taught. Students and scientific staff are facing each other not only in their roles as teachers and learners, but also as researchers and student assistants. In lectures scientific staff imparts knowledge to students, in research projects students work out knowledge for scientific staff. Bringing together the group of students and the group of scientists in teaching and research rises a valuable opportunity to enhance university education. The first implementation of the concept is currently evaluated at our university with a research-driven blended learning strategy that we like to share experiences and discuss future developments.
