Abstract: This research was grounded on the assumption that there is a correlation between the extent of Mentor discourse and the extent of Learner Discourse (MLD) in discussion forums of online courses. It was also grounded on the assumption that MLD is a factor of importance to learners and the vitality of the online institution. A quantitative path analysis and content analysis were used to conduct this study. The findings of this study suggest that there is a direct relationship between instructor discourse and learner discourse in online courses.
