Abstract: This best practice session is meant to highlight the top three pitfalls when implementing and/or upgrading an internally hosted Learning and Talent Management System based on experiences with the SumTotal platform. Three themes will be presented – underestimating the importance of your own data, underestimating the importance of a proof of concept, and underestimating the complexities and timeline for implementation. For each theme, examples of what to consider as well as pros and cons of a specific approach will be presented based on a major marketing communication firm’s first hand experiences in upgrading and implementing these systems.
