Abstract: Online learning is at times criticized for student isolation, lack of access to classmates and faculty and concerns about veracity of student participation. This presentation will describe how these concerns were addressed using synchronous Skype conferences. The procedures used to integrate such conferences into various types of online courses will be discussed. In addition, preliminary research findings regarding student perception of and satisfaction with the use of synchronous Skype conferences will be presented.
