Abstract: Students who were enrolled in the course Introduction to Computer Applications – COMP 1020, presented by the Mathematics Department, College of Science and Technology, Northwestern State University were surveyed to determine the degree to which their Microsoft® Certification (MOS/MCAS) benefitted their entry into the workforce. As part of the course, students completed the Microsoft® certification testing administered by Certiport. The period covered was the Spring 2002 through the Spring 2006 semester. It was believed that this external testing was very beneficial and this study sought to determine the degree to which students were able to use and benefit from their certification as an added credential on their resume when seeking employment.
