Abstract: In the wide-ranging discussion of eLearning, eLearners themselves are often ignored. But today’s eLearners are “digital natives” who sit at the center of—and in fact control—the learning process. The paper associated with this session outlines the learning revolution brought about by digital technologies and briefly outlines several characteristics of the contemporary eLearners. Dynamic Immersion, the award-winning method from Rosetta Stone® for learning new languages on CD and Online will be used to illustrate possibilities for placing the eLearner at the center of eLearning. Designed for today’s eLearners in a range of educational, workplace, and government-associated environments, Rosetta Stone incorporates many of the innovative learning strategies this new kind of learner brings to eLearning. The session discusses the digital revolution and engages the participants in a live (and lively!) online language-learning experience.
