Changing the Face of Education in a Nigerian University Through Ubiquitous Virtual Classroom
Abstract: The development of ubiquitous learning is tightly connected with the general e-Learning progress. A number of full-time students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka have been compelled to undertake full-time paid employment in other to take care of their financial needs. Such students attendance to lectures are dependent on their employment roster requirements, this in turn leads to a fragmented learning modes. A virtual classroom system which is accessible through the desktop and mobile devices can provide a flexible learning system to blur distinction between on-campus and off-campus studies. This will enable such students participate in class activities and still take care of their job demands. This work described the experiences and results of building a ubiquitous virtual learning system which was accessible from conventional Personal Computers (PCs) and mobile devices.
