Abstract: The contemporary language instructor expends significant energy convincing skeptical American students of the personal, professional and social return intrinsic to language study; no longer can teachers of language count on a steady stream of students meeting language and general education requirements to fill their seats. Rather, with language programs across the country facing great challenges in developing and maintaining integrated and comprehensive language programs, contemporary language teachers must be increasingly entrepreneurial and innovative in their approaches to both pedagogy and its relationship to the global workplace.
