Using Mobile Devices in the Classroom
Abstract: Today’s educators must deal with a tremendous gap between how students live and how they learn. Most schools fall critically behind in utilization of emerging technologies. Mobile handheld technology has the power to transition occasional, supplemental use of computers for instruction to more frequent, integral use of technology across a multitude of settings. This session will showcase how cloud computing using Web 2.0 tools can promote communication, creation, and collaboration for untethered learning. Demonstrations will show how students can use an Apple iTouch and an iPad for ubiquitous, 24/7 access making it possible for students to access a wider array of resources to support their learning, to communicate with peers and their teachers, and to become fluent in their use of the technological tools of the 21st century workplace.
