Abstract: Does developing and teaching an online course impact faculty’s pedagogical beliefs and result in them making changes to their other courses? This session will present anecdotal and empirical evidence that addresses this important question. Specifically, at the end of this session, participants will have learned about the results of a research study which supports the notion that developing and teaching an online course can impact more than just the course being developed. The session will also address how professional development opportunities can be structured to maximize the value of the program for the faculty members themselves as well as the institution as a whole.
