Abstract: In many Higher Education institutions there is a growing demand for academics to use technologies in their teaching and evolve with the rapidly changing environment that it represents. The competing demands of research and teaching loads coupled with a perceived lack of central support means academics are often unable to respond to these changes. Griffith University’s response to this was to employ a hybrid approach to support services that is hoped to be more sustainable than current central support models. The main feature of this approach is the introduction of a specialist eLearning role embedded in each Faculty Group in the university. This paper explores the strategies and framework of this hybrid support model and the benefits that the model has brought in building capacity amongst educators and incorporating ICTs in the classroom.
