Abstract: Online learning classes have now become essential courseware for colleges to remain competitive. However, many colleges are finding the development and maintenance of these programs to be overly expensive when compared to other modalities. The development methodology for online courseware has matured to a point where novelty has given way to production standardization to reduce costs. This paper proposes the use of Capability Maturity Model (CMM) to identify an incremental approach to show progress in achieving an optimized program of courseware. Recommendations are made to identify ways of progressing to more efficient and effective courseware management.
