In 2007, we started a new class called Advanced use course of personal computer as an elective subject available to all students, and we adopted blended e-learning in the class. We initiated the incorporation of an outcome assessment function into an existing learning management system (LMS: WebClass). In designing the model for this purpose, we decided to include the student perspective as well as the traditional one-way evaluation by the instructors, in part as a means of raising awareness of the capabilities acquired by the students through these courses (the “outcomes”). The addition of this concept to the LMS is designed to provide an LMS that raises student awareness of the growth of their capabilities and enable them to design their own course plans, and to provide to them the means to gain those capabilities required by society over the course of their four years of student life at Kanazawa University.
