Abstract: The increasing technical capability of mobile computers challenges medical institutions to develop appropriate concepts and applications that could be help¬ful for educational as well as everyday purposes in a clinical setting. Two exemplary applications were chosen to determine the feasibility of introducing the iPad at the Hannover Medical School: “iBooks” containing “Guidelines in nursing - Care goes paperless” and “Multilingual Nurse-Patient communication (xprompt – multilingual assistance)”.
