Tracking K-12 Teacher Choice in Researching Social and Cultural Issues

Roundtable ID: 34849

Abstract: This Roundtable discussion will revolve around the longitudinal (2006-2011) tracking of the types of research topics revolving around social and cultural issues existing in educational settings which were independently chosen by K-12 teachers for their culminating research classes, theses and capstone projects in three online master’s degree programs. The triangulated data has been collected out of curiosity during this time-frame by a higher education professor working extensively with online students. Handouts with online resources will stimulate discussion on future collaborative efforts at research in this area of “K-12 teacher concerns” on a global basis. It is the intent of the presenter to write a foundation grant to acquire funding to support this future research and its dissemination/publication of data results and analysis. Participants at this Roundtable who express interest in collaboration will be included in the honorariums for the foundation grant proposal.
