Abstract: In recent years, several educational applications have been developed that have shown the touch-screen technology to good advantage. In this paper the advantages of using tablet PC platform in the educational process domain are discussed and demonstrated on an example of digital circuit design and real-time simulation system - ChronicLogic. In the system the stylus and touch-screen technology was used mainly to develop the panel for handwritten gestures recognition dedicated to circuit elements selection. The recognition may be customized creating the user-defined gestures that can then be recognized in addition to the default gestures already embedded in the system. In this way the user can design a digital circuit quickly and in a natural way. Furthermore, the designed digital circuit can be functionally verified by means of setting the input values and observing the output LEDs. For this purpose an external simulator was integrated into the system providing the necessary simulation results.
