Abstract: What is a quality online course? Like beauty, the answer lies in the eye of the beholder. But this subjective measure of online course quality is fading as institutions and accrediting bodies demand objective evidence of the quality of online courses and programs. How can institutions prove the quality of their online offerings? The natural measure of online course quality is a quality rubric, but there are a variety of existing rubrics to consider including the popular Quality Matters rubric. For some institutions, existing rubrics do not meet their needs. This presentation will share best practices in the creation of a customized rubric. It will discuss the successes and lessons learned of other institutions that have created their own online course quality rubrics. Participants will also learn some tips for the implementation of an online course quality process.
