Abstract: This paper describes an actual course that has been structured to allow for students to follow it as a traditional face-to-face course with or without web-enhancement, as a blended/hybrid course, and/or as an online course, all in a single offering. Students are not limited to one format for the duration of the course but can switch at any time to which ever format best suits their learning needs at different points of the course. This format has been offered many times over the past five years, and has been formatively evaluated and modified to maximize learning. It is part of a doctorate project which is looking for relationships between patterns of use of the on-line components and performance. A description of the components and a learner evaluation scheme are included as well as the type of data that have been collected. Preliminary findings are discussed as they relate to the use of the on-line tools.
