Abstract: This session provides a hands-on approach to implementation of statistical analysis using data collection via the smart phone or computer. The first step is the set-up of a list-serve on the smart phone and/or computer for each learner via a free text messaging application such as “Group Me.” The next step is for learners/researchers to determine a data collector for the group who will compile the data. Data is collected by members and reported to the data collector who records the results via a frequency distribution table. Once data is compiled the group will communicate, via Skype, IM, text, Twitter, Blog, or f2f to discuss with one another the statistical analysis most appropriate for their research project. Data analysis via this venue can be done at any grade level and/or content area. The possibilities are endless using this venue. Analysis using central tendencies and/or other statistical analysis can be conducted as well as incorporating the use of SPSS. This approach accommodates K-12 classroom teachers, Master level graduate learners, action researchers, or doctoral candidates.
