Abstract: Authors: Lacretia Mitchell & Camille Kilbourne Many feel in distance education, teaching is a one-way street. Information is to be placed online for learners to learn on their own, rather than an opportunity for an exchange of ideas and information between the instructor and the learner. As a result, today’s learners in the eLearning environment may feel disconnected and frustrated with the lack of clear instruction and feedback from their instructor. The session will identify key elements of quality service in the eLearning environment and demonstrate how our dept. is now taking a customer service approach to another level, through modeling the servant role in higher education. Attendees will receive an example of how one can go beyond just teaching to ensure serving our students and enhancing the learners’ experience.
