Millennials: Entitled Networking Business Leaders
Abstract: Virtual workplaces are replacing the brick and mortar. In the global marketplace, local, regional, and multinational firms allocate virtual teams to address company transactions. Now an essential component in the competitive global environment, teams may shape comparative advantage, especially in the Middle East and North African Region (MENA). This case study focuses on the emergence of a new genre of leadership in virtual teams, that of the Millenial. Two key factors were assessed to see whether they play an instrumental role in configuring leadership: first, it seeks to determine whether the virtual organizational structure impacts millenials’ authority as the team leader and second, whether the organizational structure influences the team members’ perception of their leaders’ entitlement attitude. Data was gathered using a survey and face-to-face interviews. Based on the results, it is recommended that further research be conducted in order to understand millennial leaders
