Abstract: E-learning in the workplace - fascinating, but consider cognitive functioning starts declining in young adulthood. We are all aware of waning cognitive functioning with age, but few are aware of what exactly is happening. Working memory is at the heart of it. There are two facts about working memory that make it infinitely intriguing. First, it is highly correlated with learning generally. Secondly, working memory capacity has been found to positively improve with Cogmed Working Memory Training from preschoolers through older adults. So if you want to improve the possibility that e-learning will actually be integrated and mastered by adult learners wouldn’t you want to improve working memory first? This talk will define working memory and explain its role in learning. The rather optimistic picture for adult learners is that that several research studies have found that working memory capacity can be improved with Cogmed Working Memory Training in adults.
