Abstract: Music education is a valuable aspect of society and culture. To provide a upcoming generations with options to participate in music education, the exploration of effective online design for music education is needed. Through the use of established research in online course design, this presentation seeks to identify effective components for creating a meaningful online music education experience. Addressing factors such as motivation (Picciano, 2002), Community of Inquiry (Kanuka & Garrison), social constructivism (Jonassen, 1999; Vygotsky, 1978) and effective guides for music education (Jones, 2005; Mark, 1999; Reimer, 2003), a proposed framework is suggested.
