Abstract: The purpose of this pilot study is to construct an action research of research-based college teaching and learning which will entail an online course design model in transforming traditional lectures into Web-based learning. To offer a research-based framework for an online course design, this study will experiment with a model of constructivist learning environments (CLEs) that engage learners in meaning making (knowledge construction) (Jonassen, 1999). Literature and the CLE course design model will help online instructors and instructional designers to improve online teaching and learning in higher education.
