Abstract: The effectiveness of microcomputer-based Lab (MBL) experiments as compared to traditional classroom teaching was studied among undergraduate physics students of Pune University through administration of validated tests. It was found that the group which was demonstrated kinematics concepts through MBL performed significantly better on the conceptual tests as compared to the control group which was explained kinematics concepts in the traditional classroom way. Their explanation of how they achieved the result was also more graphical and logical than their corresponding group which relied more on algebraic explanation for their results. This demonstrates that the visualization effected by MBL experiments is very efficient and helpful in effective understanding of kinematics concepts.
