Distance Education for Convicts of Prison Units in Parana/Brazil
Abstract: The present article focuses on the presence of the Distance Education modality for people deprived from freedom. Offering Distance Education courses embodiment in Prison Units carries out broad goals. Such objectives attend the educational feature, sociocultural and humanizing, once that, besides providing technological education professionalizing in nature, the courses provide a chance for sentenced-students to return to social life more prepared to take active part in society. The present article also points out the importance of Distance Education modality in what concerns the mobility of convicts while still in closed regime, since that prison action involves administrative and disciplinary difficulties in the Prison Unit. In this paper Distance Education is approached as a rhizome, as an instrument for the democratization of knowledge; such as a web that re-waves life in its plot of social and educational relations; in an interface with digital technology.
