Abstract: This study examined a placement method of the Windows folder icons that it was easy to search visual object in VDT work. Visual recognition of searching icons in VDT works on A Comparison of Visual Recognition of Searching Icons in VDT on kindergarteners and university students were compared Search time becomes overwhelmingly earlier than the one that it is arranged in numerical order arranged it at random. Search speeds of kindergarteners were slower than those of university students. In addition, the influence is popular greatly so that the number of the icons to show increases. It was not able to confirm the influence to search time by vertical direction placement and horizontal direction placement. It was able to classify the way of movement of subjects’ viewpoint at the time of the icon search summarily into 3 types basically. Subjects put these 3 types together and searched it. These tendencies are almost same on both kindergartners and university students.
