Positivity and Mobile Technology: Changing the Brain and Habits of Learning
Abstract: As positive psychology emerges as method for enhancing learning, neuroscientists have been intrigued as to how this may impact the processes of the brain and have studied the effects. Further, as mobile technology grows and becomes more deeply integrated in learning environments as a tool for learning, enhanced teacher and learner engagement results, and correlates with positivity. In addition, mobile technology may “flip” traditional learning theories, such as Bloom’s Taxonomy, in terms of how students actively gather knowledge and develop an understanding, versus memorization of information. This paper will provide a review of literature and insight on how new methods for teaching and learning may create better climates. Suggestions for integrating both team-building and kinesthetic activities that can be applied to learning will also be proposed, creating a salubrious milieu for developing fun, social, and active learning skills and strategies.
