Abstract: This research aims to reduce the stress on the writing centers’ personnel and expand the center's offerings by providing students with web-based assistance using an Embodied Conversational Agent (ECA). The goals of this research are to construct and test an Embodied Conversational Agent that will answer user questions about writing papers in MLA formats. To collect information from undergraduate students about their current writing procedures in an undergraduate level setting. To collect quantitative and qualitative feedback on the initial thoughts and reactions of those students after interacting with a prototype of an ECA designed to provide better writing advice.
