MOOC: The first experience in a Portuguese Institute of Higher Education

Abstract: The ICT Competence Center of the Higher School of Education of Santarém (CCTICESES) developed, promoted and evaluated a MOOC - Massive Open Online Course, educational experience that will be discussed in this paper taking into account: a) the origin of the concept; b) the construction of the course; c) the presentation and discussion of the results of the evaluation; d) strengths and weaknesses. The MOOC Bullying in schools: characterization and intervention, was an idea pioneered in Portugal which took place between November 19 and December 12, 2012. The teaching model of the course was based on the principles of connectivist design. The participants, when inquired if they would participate in another course in the MOOC format, 95% responded affirmatively.
