Experiences from the design, implementation and use of remote laboratories in engineering education
Abstract: In this paper remote laboratories in general are presented and classified along with references to successful implementations of remote laboratories. Important experiences with running remote laboratories over several years at the authors’ university is also presented, in the areas of design, maintenance, student satisfaction, cost and relevance to the learning objectives. Some of the main advantages and disadvantages are also listed. This is followed by a short discussion of the remaining challenges that still meet remote laboratory designers.
