Abstract: Changing platforms when teaching via distance learning is inevitable. Being prepared for that change is essential. How we deal with the transition is key to success in virtual learning. This paper focuses on some of the problems encountered when transitioning from one platform to another, as well as on techniques, practices, and ideas for transitioning to that new platform with general suggestions for success in virtual learning. Topics include Communication, Training, Learning from Failures, Staying Ahead of Your Students, and Having a Plan B. This paper will attempt to address some of the challenges encountered when changing platforms and provide advice, based on seventeen years experience in distance learning, to anticipate and perhaps avoid some of those hazards.
