Abstract: The motion picture Star Wars features a famous scene where a Jedi mentor shows off his skills to get a foe to repeat his wants: "These aren't the droids you're looking for ..." Researchers and instructional designers often find participants in pilot studies give feedback that may be an attempt at a similar mind trick. Participants responses tended to focus on other aspects other than content when asked about content; design when asked about content -- their minds confused by the interplay of the two.
