Abstract: As the population of the world increases and the number of farms decrease, there are growing demands for food production on an aging population of farmers. With the next generation of potential agricultural science students deeply involved in digital technologies and a field that increasingly relies on technology for success, attracting these students to careers in agricultural science may necessitate that agricultural science teachers incorporate more technologies into their instruction. This study surveyed 65 agricultural science teachers in South Texas regarding their stage of adoption and frequency of use of technology in their practice. Results indicate that two thirds of the agricultural science teachers report that they are comfortable with the use of older technologies, but as the technology increased in complexity the usage decreased. Money and time are the biggest constraints that keep agriculture teachers from incorporating more technology into their classrooms.
