Abstract: This article presents a text-mining methodology to discriminate salient descriptors and characterize research themes on particular topics across longitudinal data sets. The importance of theme characterization is that it provides attributes that can be used to track down themes across disciplinary boundaries. This study demonstrates how to use the methodology to map out the research on mobile learning (the theme).
