Abstract: This paper discusses the reasons that libraries need to move towards the html5 solution from Flash in the future. Using the national library of Norway as an example, the paper describes a developing mobile web application with HTML5/jQuery Mobile to deploy across multiple browser and OS platforms with several accesses to library resources, including free text search, location maps, sound books and video display. Interactive solution for books and journals, for example, zooming function, page turning function, online order form have been presented. A MySQL database has been set up on the library server for supporting the search function.
