Abstract: This updated presentation will discuss recent refinements in the Experiential Learning Model developed by the online Rehabilitation Counseling graduate program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The presentation will also discuss how attendees can construct an Experiential Learning Model development and implementation stratagem that is tailored to meet their own needs. Experiential Learning combines community service with academic instruction as it focuses on critical, reflective thinking and civic responsibility. In Experiential Learning course experiences, students engage in an organized service activity in such a way as to gain further understanding of course content, appreciation of the discipline, and an enhanced sense of civic responsibility. There must be a clear connection between course objectives and service. Applying the Experiential learning Model in a distance education setting presents unique challenges and opportunities.
