Abstract: Demands for teacher use of technology in the classroom continue while not much is said about evaluation of the technology to determine whether its use had an influence on student learning. Research indicates that many teachers overlook the evaluation of technology tools for teaching and learning. A qualitative study was conducted with k-12 teachers, which sought to examine the strategies used to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional technology tools. Findings indicate that there are strategies used by some teachers to assess the effectiveness of instructional technology materials, however, a good number of teachers do not assess the effectiveness of instructional technology tools. This presentation offers alternative strategies from teachers that could be use in the classroom to assess the effectiveness of instructional technology tools before, during, and after implementation.
