Abstract: Teaching and learning with iPads is occurring in classrooms around the world. When teachers are expected to use technology such as the iPad to improve learning, there is a change in practice that goes beyond learning how to use the technology. This requires a change in both content knowledge and the use of educational resources. However, there is limited research regarding “best practices” when effectively embedding this technology tool in daily instruction with young children. The purpose of this paper is to share a strategy for categorizing and selecting iPad educational applications to help educators make purposeful decisions on how to meet the differing instructional needs of their students.
